INK COLOURS
(spot colour offset printing)
It is possible to mix ink to almost any colour using the Pantone matching system. There are almost 1,000 different colours available using the chart. The standard ink colours below are available straight from the tin at no additional cost. Mixes are available at £6 per mix.
The pantone chart is produced in two sections - coated and uncoated. The final colour will vary considerably between coated and uncoated stocks. If an exact colour match is required care must be taken in selecting the stock. Different stocks will effect the final colour as will the amount of coverage. Do not underestimate the effect of a coloured paper on the colour of ink. Even a pale cream stock will have a distinct effect on the final colour.
If you are preparing artwork for either spot colour or CMYK offset artwork and are not totally familiar with the difference please refer to the working with colour section.
METALIC COLOURS
Gold and silver inks are available. These do not produce ‘golf foil’ type results but do vaguely resemble the colours they are supposed to represent. Due to the fact that they take for ever to wash off the press after use there is an additional charge for using them!
